Wedding Quilt for Joe and Stephanie

So this is my first ever blog post, how exciting! I am going to share my latest project. This quilt is what actually enspired me to start a blog. I make these things for people as gifts, and then I don't ever get to see them again, and when I want to make something new, I can't remember my old projects. So here we go...

My cousin Joe (who is also my husband's best friend) was getting married and I wanted to get them something special. I have made quilts before, but this was my first wedding quilt. They were decorating their bedroom in blues and blacks. They were actually designing their room around Joe's racecar. Here is a picture of the car. It's a 2000 Honda Civic SI.

This the quilt that I made...

I did the back and a 6 inch border in a blue that matched the car and I did a black/grey binding

I did some custum finishing touches for Joe and Stephanie. I put their initials in two of the large squares in the middle.

Then I sewed Honda symbols in the squares in four corners. Here is an example...

Then this is one of my favorite things. My husband's grandmother made us a quilt for our wedding and she put a small heart-shaped pocket on the back of our quilt with a message in it. I did the same thing, with a different message of course.

I crocheted the loop to pull out the message, this is what it looks like when it is pulled out.

The message read:

Once in awhile, Right in the middle
of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairy tale

Your love, like this quilt
Will keep you warm and cozy

It turned out so good. I can't wait to finally give it to them.
